Acquired by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the estate spans approximately 50,000 acres. The original 16th-century tower house was replaced with the current castle, completed in 1856, to better accommodate the royal family. Today, Balmoral remains a private retreat for the royals and offers visitors the opportunity to explore its stunning gardens and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the estate.
